All items we are dealing with, not only as means but also as basic internet. To learn why these actions have similar effects in all countries would have to know the different availability and use of this tool. The above table shows the number of Internet users for each of the countries of the European Union of 25, and the rate of penetration and growth between 2000 and 2005, drawn from a study by Noticiasdot.com .
In 1996, Spain had 487,000 Internet users. In May 2005 were almost 13 million. If we break down the amount by sex, 61% of users are male, while 39% are women. The population with Internet access in 2005 was 32'5, showing a slight increase from 31.5 last year. The percentage of households with internet was 30'9, with the communities with the highest percentage in Catalonia, Madrid and the Basque Country in that order, while those that have a lower percentage are Galicia, Extremadura and Castilla y León. The Valencian Community has a 28.6%.
Given the enormous possibilities the network offers, the availability of this tool will be crucial to the growth of a country because, taking advantage of the internet (access to information, suppliers, improving contact with clients, monitoring the actions of competitors, lower communications costs and an endless list of opportunities) firms become more competitive. Thus, a government that does not make a proper policy in this regard, is jeopardizing the growth of their country.

In Spain, the provision of computers per 100 people is 18, according to the Institute of Economic Studies in 2004. This figure represents one of the lowest in the European Union, similar to the above only Portugal and Greece, which has only 12. The EU average stands at 36%, while the U.S. is 80% and Nordic countries like Denmark, Norway and Sweden 59%. Behind them, countries like Britain and Germany by 42% to 39%. Again, data showing the relative backwardness of Spain in regards to new technologies and efforts still to be done.
